JULIE BORGERS

Founder/owner & CEO

Biography

Julie is the founder and owner of WMNride, a project which has grown together with her passion for cycling over the past three years. Holding a PhD degree in sports management (KU Leuven, 2015), Julie is eager to apply her understanding of the sports market to promoting the sports she loves the most.

After starting with road bike rides for women in Brussels in 2019, the ambition and demand to expand the concept to other places and cycling disciplines increased quickly. In 2020-2021, she kept pedalling through lockdowns and covid-restrictions to develop WMNride as an independent brand and network to support and connect female cyclists at all levels.

Julie is leading and supporting social rides at different locations. She loves to be out on the road to share cycling joy, as well as to do strategic work behind the scenes to develop the WMNride program and communication platform. Besides that, she’s working as club development manager at Tennis Vlaanderen and sports policy lecturer at the Thomas More Business unit in Mechelen.
